Meet the Founders
REV. DR. SUN MYUNG MOON and DR. HAK JA HAN MOON
The heart of the movement Rev. and Dr. Moon founded is the recreation of God's ideal family. Beginning from their own Marriage Blessing in 1960, Father and Mother Moon are calling men and women to transcend race and religion, rebuilding the family as the vessel of true lasting love, and the cornerstone of world peace through the Marriage Blessing.
This tradition of God-centered marriage provides a powerful model for building a family of true love, to establish a foundation for lasting peace. Family members affectionately refer to the Rev. and Dr. Moon as True Parents for taking on the role of parents to all of humankind.
Meet Our Senior Pastor
Pastor Hebangja has been serving as the senior pastor of Chicago Family Church since June 1st, 2025. He believes that, As our Heavenly Parent, God is not a concept, but a substantial reality that we are to experience in our daily lives. He has a heart for people and a deep passion for helping others discover who they are as sons and daughters of God.
Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo where he survived a civil war with experiences that shaped his faith in God, he immigrated to the United States of America in 2014. He and his wife Grace have been happily married since April 16, 2022. They are blessed with two beautiful daughters. As a family, they bring energy, hope, and a genuine love for people to our church community.
Since answering his call to ministry at the age of 21, Pastor Hebangja has been a dedicated student of the heart of Jesus Christ through the teachings of Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Holy Mother Han. He enjoys sharing this message through sermons, meaningful conversations, and small group gatherings.
In his free time, he is either spending time at home with his family, watching or playing soccer or hanging out with community members. You can connect with him every Wednesday at his small group study on guiding principles of faith or at the Rekindle Workshop, a 3-hour workshop every third Sunday on the essence of God and God’s purpose for creating.
